Set in the Great Depression, this new work by Josh Billig follows the life of Theo Segal, a veteran of WWI and former vaudeville star trying to regain his fame. Theo is trapped in a tenement apartment with his wife, Sarah, who is emotionally broken by the miscarriage of their child, and his widowed sister-in-law, Betsy, a caustic former chorus girl whose husband was Theo's twin brother Alex. Theo is getting by, digging ditches all day for money and practising his new acts all night. But when Sarah takes an indefinite mental health rest in Vermont and Betsy becomes Theo's new stage partner, Theo is faced with hard decisions about what he wants his life to be.
Though limited by a small repertory light plot, this production tries to chart the seasons as the play's action starts in midwinter and ends in autumn.
